When I'm riding my horse, the world disappears, everyday stresses melt away and I float. I am present - the rhythm, the breath, the bond between you, me, the earth, the sky. Nothing is better than this.
Emma's love of horses started at age 7, with a cute little pony named Oatis at Lake Oswego Hunt Club in Oregon. In moving to California, she found a joyful and positive lesson program with Sarah Vernlund at Highland Stables and participated in the horse project with 4-H, supplementing her riding with horse care (which resulted in clean stalls and painted fences).
Looking to explore Eventing, Emma studied under Gina Miles and learned how a balance of assertiveness and sensitivity create an enduring bond and success. It was here that she bought her first horse, her off-the-track Thoroughbred, Steppy. As OTTB owners know, they are a joy and a challenge. Emma's horse-womanship skills grew working with a sensitive yet spirited horse.
In 2020, Emma joined the Rose Hill Stable team to work with Hilary Johnson in Hunters and Equitation. Kanndarco recently joined her team, lending to her versatility as a rider. She is a newcomer to the Class A circuit, and enjoying the challenges it brings.
In addition to the geldings in her life, Emma keeps busy with rigorous academics at Monte Vista High School, Varsity Cheer & Stunt and her passion for saving the world's oceans.
